Who we are:
Being
fluent in their own mother tongue enhances the overall development of a
child. It connects them to their culture,
ensures better cognitive development, and aids in the learning of
other languages.
Barathi
Tamil School is such an
initiative to enhance the Tamil language for the Tamil children living in the
UK. Barathi Tamil School was started on the 10th of
September 2017 by a group of parents/friends to educate their children and to
bring in and benefit other Tamil children living in around the Watford region.
What we do:
Our
motive is to teach young children to read, write and speak our language. We
teach Tamil for kids aged 7yrs and above. Based on their ability in
reading/writing, children will be registered in appropriate grades.
How we do:
We
believe in growing together and for our initiative in this journey, we are
supported by Milton Keynes Tamil School, who have been our inspiration in this
aspect. We are a sub school and our Main school, Milton
Keynes Tamil school (http://www.mktamil.org/en/) , is well
established and now has more than 100 students studying in different
grades. Experiences of the students and parents of Milton Keynes
Tamil School has motivated us and we are here today with this initiative and
hope this will grow and serve our Tamil community living in Hertfordshire in
this cause.
We
are affiliated to International Tamil Academy (ITA), formerly known as
California Tamil Acadamy. And we follow a structured syllabus from ITA, which
helps us in carrying out our tasks effectively.
Our
academic year starts in September and ends in July typically following the
School term time in the UK with Christmas, Easter and half term breaks.
Where we are:
Our
weekly Tamil classes run at Parmiter’s School , Watford on Sundays from 5-6pm.
